Microsoft HoloLens is one of the most famous mixed reality systems in the world. It can not only project holograms onto the translucent screens but also scan and re-build the surrounding environment to make both the user and holograms immersed into the mixed reality. In addition to wireless mouses, keyboards and clickers, HoloLens can also be controlled by gestures and voice commands making users more convenient to learn postures or gestures from the virtual teacher in HoloLens. This will be a great advantage for the usage of HoloLens to develop educational applications.
Currently, the lab is responsible for maintaining five HoloLens goggles and developing HoloLens APPs with iClone, 3ds Max, Unity, and MixedRealityToolkit. Basic 3D modeling, rendering and rigging knowledge and C# coding skills and experiences are required if lab members choose to join in this line of research and development.
